Zachary White is Tucson-based music educator, performer, and composer. Zachary holds two bachelors degrees (instrumental music education, music performance in percussion) and a masters degree (music performance in percussion) from the University of Arizona's School of Music as well as a PreK - 12 teaching certification with the Arizona Department of Education.
Zachary currently teaches marching (indoor and outdoor) and concert percussion at Rincon University High School and is the Director of Percussion at Ironwood Ridge High School. Outside of teaching in public schools, he also maintains a private drum set studio.
As a performer, Zachary works and tours regionally and nationally with many Tucson-based singer-songwriters, entertainment businesses, and art institutions. These active engagements include the University of Arizona School of Dance, Khris Dodge Entertainment, Drew Cooper, Adam Townsend, Tucson Modern Jazz Quartet, Wholly Cats Swing Club, Scott Pryor, and Blue Honey.
Additionally, Zachary has toured and performed across the country as a percussionist with the 2016 Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps (2016 DCI World Champions) and as drum captain with the Pride of Arizona marching and pep bands. He has participated in dozens of public performances at the University of Arizona and throughout the Tucson community with ensembles such as the Pride of Arizona Marching and Pep bands, UA Wind Symphony, UA Wind Ensemble, Arizona Symphony Orchestra, UA Percussion Ensemble, UA Electronic Percussion Ensemble, and the Arizona Contemporary Ensemble.
As a composer, Zachary creates and performs original scores for UA School of Dance faculty, graduate student, and undergraduate student dance pieces and improvises live music during all modern dance classes throughout the school year. Apart from the University of Arizona, he also composes original scores and arranges music for Rincon University High School and Ironwood Ridge High School.
